Soon leaves will be falling from the trees — the quintessential sign of autumn. The choices we make with our leaves have a significant impact on the future health of our lakes and rivers. The nutrients released from decaying leaves are an unwelcome guest to our waterways, where they encourage algae growth. If our community works together, we can minimize this — and keep our lakes and rivers healthy.
In Blooming Grove you can do your part by raking leaves and bagging them. The Town will pick up bags if they weigh less than 40 pounds, contain only yard waste, and are tied at the top. This is a weekly service that runs from October 15 through November.
Thank you in advance for being a part of the long-term solution, and keeping our waterways viable for years to come. For more information, visit http://myfairlakes.com/fall_campaign.aspx.
