Annual budget public hearing and Special Town Meeting to approve the levy

Earlier this year, the Town Board scheduled the public hearing to review the 2027 budget and to schedule a special town meeting of the electorate on November 18, 2026.

The packet for the hearing can be found here.  The agenda has been posted physically and on the Town website since October 12, 2026.  There are two attachments.  One budget summary assumes the April Hill neighborhood petition to be annexed by the Village of McFarland is accepted.  The other assumes the petition is rejected.  The difference between the two summary budgets is approximately $74,000.  The majority of the cost differences is the number of miles of road to be sealed.

The Board has assumed that the local levy will remain at $100,000 and that expenses not covered by property taxes, license application fees, and intergovernmental revenue will be funded by money from dedicated outlay accounts and unassigned funds held in our bank account.

The approval of the 2026 levy paid in 2027 is adopted by resolution and takes place during the Special Town Meeting that follows the adjournment of the public hearing.

There will be a Board meeting following the adjournment of the Town meeting to consider routine matters as well as to adopt the 2027 budget.  That agenda has yet to be created; it will be shared and posted at a later date
