Return of Absentee Ballots by Mail Advisory

Today, Scott McDonell, the Dane County Clerk, sent a media release to encourage voters who have received ballots by mail to place those into the mail for return no later than July 28, 2026 to ensure arrival on or before election day, August 11, 2026.

He noted that the United States Postal Service will no longer put in overtime on Eletion Day to sort arriving ballots, which may result in some returned ballots unable to be counted if they arrive after 8:00 PM on election day.
